01Who we are

The BC Muslim Chamber of Commerce (“BCMCC”, “the chamber”, “we”, “us”) is the BC Muslim Chamber of Commerce, a federally incorporated corporation (Corporations Canada corporate number 17033893), with its registered office at 6638 Stoney Crescent, Delta, British Columbia V4E 1K9, Canada.

These terms cover the BCMCC website at bcmcc.net, the member portal, the member directory, chamber events, and membership itself.

02Accepting these terms

By creating an account, paying dues, registering for an event, or otherwise using this site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. Membership payments are also governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or join the chamber.

If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorized to bind that business, and “you” means both you and that business.

03Who may join

• You must be at least 19 years old (the age of majority in British Columbia).
• Membership is intended for entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals with a connection to British Columbia. The chamber is open to everyone and does not require members to be Muslim.
• The information you give us — your name, your business, what it does — must be accurate and kept up to date.
• The chamber may decline any application, at its discretion, including where a business does not meet the standards described in section 7.

04Your account

You are responsible for your login credentials and for everything done through your account. Use a password you do not use anywhere else, and tell us promptly at contact@bcmcc.net if you believe someone else has access to it.

One account per person. Do not share an account between people, and do not create an account for someone else without their knowledge.

05Membership and dues

Creating an account is free and gives you a basic profile. Full membership requires annual dues, priced by how long your business has been in operation:

All amounts are in Canadian dollars and are charged in advance for the membership year. Taxes are applied where required by law. Dues are set by the chamber and may change; a change will never alter the price of a term you have already paid for, and we will give notice before it applies to your renewal.

Membership belongs to the person and business named on the account. It is not transferable or resellable, and every membership benefit — the directory listing, referrals, events, the Entrepreneurship Hub, advocacy — is provided at the chamber's discretion and may evolve over time.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number — see section 11 and our Privacy Policy.

06The member directory

The directory is visible only to signed-in BCMCC members. It is not public and is not indexed by search engines.

You choose what appears in your listing, and you can hide yourself from the directory entirely from your profile settings. By filling in your listing, you give the chamber permission to display that information to other members and to use it to make introductions and referrals on your behalf. You keep ownership of everything you submit.

You confirm that you have the right to use the business name, logo, links, and any other material you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

07Business vetting

The chamber reviews businesses that apply for a directory listing. The review looks at whether the business is legitimate and operating, and whether it meets the chamber's standards of ethical conduct. A listing may be marked verified, left unverified, or declined.

The chamber's assessment notes are internal working documents and are not published. Being listed in the directory is not an endorsement, a certification, a credit check, or a guarantee about any member's business, work, or conduct. Members deal with one another at their own risk and should do their own due diligence.

08Acceptable use

The chamber exists to be a place where people can do business with each other in good faith. When using the site, member spaces, or chamber events, you agree not to:

• Harass, demean, threaten, or discriminate against anyone — including on the basis of faith, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
• Misrepresent yourself, your business, your credentials, or your relationship to the chamber.
• Use member contact details for spam, unsolicited bulk email, multi-level marketing recruitment, or any purpose the recipient has not agreed to.
• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically copy the directory or any other part of the site, by any means.
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or areas of the site you are not authorized to reach, or probe, scan, or test the security of the site.
• Upload anything unlawful, defamatory, deceptive, or malicious, including malware.
• Use the site or your membership to promote fraud, or any activity that is illegal in British Columbia or Canada.

Report a problem to contact@bcmcc.net. We take reports about member conduct seriously and investigate them.

09Events

Registration for a chamber event is personal to you. Places may be limited, and the chamber may change or cancel an event, change its venue, or close registration at any time. Where an event carries a fee, the refund terms on the event page or in the Refund & Cancellation Policy apply.

Photography and recording take place at some chamber events for chamber communications. Tell the organizers on the day if you would prefer not to appear.

The acceptable-use standards in section 8 apply at events exactly as they do online.

10Intellectual property

The BCMCC name, logo, dogwood and maple marks, brand system, site design, and written content belong to the chamber. Members in good standing may say they are a BCMCC member and may use a member badge we supply, in the form we supply it.

You may not use the chamber's name or marks in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, certification, or partnership that has not been agreed in writing, and any permission ends when your membership does.

11Third-party services

The site relies on a small number of outside providers: Google Firebase for hosting, sign-in, and the database; Stripe for payments; Google Fonts for typography. Your use of the site involves those services, each under its own terms.

The site links to member websites and other third-party sites. We do not control them and do not endorse them.

12Disclaimers

The site and membership are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We work to keep the site accurate and running, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every threat, and we do not warrant that any particular business result will follow from membership.

Nothing the chamber publishes, and nothing said at a chamber event or by a chamber volunteer, is legal, financial, tax, immigration, or investment advice. Speak to a qualified professional about your own situation.

To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some of these rights cannot be waived under British Columbia consumer law, and nothing here takes away a right you cannot lawfully give up.

13Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the chamber, its directors, officers, volunteers, and staff are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, lost data, or lost opportunity, arising from your use of the site or your membership.

Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount of membership dues you paid to the chamber in the twelve months before the claim arose.

We are also not liable for what other members do. Dealings between members — contracts, referrals, transactions, disputes — are between those members.

14Indemnity

You agree to indemnify the chamber against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the site or the directory, or content you submit.

15Suspension and termination

You may close your account or end your membership at any time; see the Refund & Cancellation Policy for what happens to dues you have already paid.

The chamber may suspend or terminate an account or a membership where a member breaches these terms, where dues go unpaid, where the chamber's vetting standards are no longer met, or where conduct harms other members or the chamber. Where circumstances allow, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond first. Termination for a serious breach does not entitle you to a refund.

Sections 10 and 12 through 17 survive the end of your membership.

16Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version, and we will give members reasonable advance notice of a material change by email or through the member portal. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

17Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction, and you and the chamber agree to that venue. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
